It is interesting to recall memories when you look at books. It's not the same as reading off the Kindle.

I prefer paper over the Kindle. I've seen a couple folks reading it on Muni in the last month or so. They look sorta funny reading, but it's not the same as reading a physical book.

I recently discovered Green Apple books over in the inner Richmond and it's now it's absolutely my favorite bookstore. It's eye candy for a book lover.

As an illustrator the Kindle and other readers makes me a bit uneasy. The view of book as object is really central to my framework.

I waited for the v2 after really wanting the v1. I wasn't blown away by the design, and with all the other factors including the one you are talking about...yea not for me.

This sums up my thoughts precisely about the Kindle. I was tempted by v1 and said I'd wait for v2 before committing myself. When v2 got here, my gadget love almost got me to click away at it, but then I realized all of the things that I love about books wouldn't be there if I got a Kindle.

Last week, I was in Salt Lake City, and went to Sam Weller's Bookstore. We wandered around for an hour and a half, picking old and new books off the shelf and reading a few lines. Try doing that with a Kindle.
