Looking For A Reason…

December 30th, 2008

I haven’t even started the resolution and I’m already searching for a purpose. Searching for some higher incentive to do this. I’ve thought of different things like giving the books I read to local libraries, or matching the amount of money I’ll be spending on books and giving that money to a charity or something. I guess I’m trying to attach some measure of altruism to this resolution.

But I’ve decided to keep it simple. Read books. And read a lot. I’m fooling myself if I think I’m starting this for any other reason than a purely selfish one. I love to read and would like to spend more time doing it. If it just happens that I benefit in other ways, great. I have no idea if 52 books in 52 weeks for a father of 3 with one on the way really has enough time to read roughly 20,000 pages in the next 12 months, but I’m giving it a shot.

I have about 26 hours before I start. So I’d better hurry and finish this book.

Luckily for me and my current job, this is not case. But I remember jobs that were just like this, and they were d r a i n i n g. . .
